Dongyi Wang, assistant professor of biological and agricultural engineering, is working to understand what jobs robotic and automated systems can accomplish. Dongyi says the goal is not to replace human workers but to improve their work experience. He sees robotics and automation as tools that can help the agriculture and food industries.

Dongyi is currently working on several projects to help the poultry industry, including a specific project to design robotic arms that can rehang chickens as well as human workers can. He says that this kind of technology has the potential to improve the safety and quality of the food we eat.
