Rice Agronomy and Cultivar Testing with Jarrod Hardke

Jarrod Hardke, professor and rice extension agronomist, provides an overview of the Rice Agronomy program research trials, including DD50 planting date studies, and Arkansas Rice Performance Trials conducted at the Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center.

Long Grain and Aromatic Rice Breeding with Christian De Guzman

Christian De Guzman, assistant professor of rice breeding genetics, provides updates on rice variety releases and other rice breeding projects, and an overview of variety testing.

Rice Breeding Updates with Xueyan Sha

Xueyan Sha, senior rice breeder and professor of plant rice and genetics, presents an update on the new rice varieties and the potential for the rice breeding program.

New Irrigation Technology for Row Rice with Chris Henry

Chris Henry, professor and water management engineer, explains the pit-less tailwater recovery irrigation system. The system he developed has shown to use significantly less water in row rice with little to no yield difference reported by users. It provides for more flexibility when trying to manage water in a FIR (furrow-irrigated rice) field.

NERREC Education Program with Ashlyn Ussery

Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator Ashlyn Ussery gives an update on the new education program that is being established at the Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center, which includes many things to come in the new facility as well as learning opportunities through the education program’s website.
