Shawna Weimer is driven by her compassion for animals. As an applied ethologist, Weimer looks at animal behavior and how they respond to humans and their environment. Through her research, she is looking for ways to improve how people interact with animals and enhance animal environments in agriculture.

Shawna Weimer is a faculty member with the poultry science department for the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, the research arm of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. She is an affiliated faculty member with the University of Arkansas System’s Center of Excellence for Poultry Science and teaches classes through the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas.
